Perez Hilton’s family issues statement after Miami emergency and police response

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton is receiving medical care after emergency services attended his Miami home following a livestream that prompted concern from viewers.

In a statement published on his website, Hilton’s family and team confirmed he was receiving treatment and thanked supporters for their “overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers”.

“Our focus right now is on his well-being,” the statement read.

“We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”

The statement followed reports that Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputies responded to an incident involving a person who had been livestreaming content related to self-harm on social media.

Authorities said the individual was “safely recovered” but did not publicly identify the person.

TikTok confirmed the livestream was removed after its moderation systems flagged the content within minutes.

A spokesperson said the platform’s US moderation team reviewed the stream and alerted law enforcement, adding that the content violated TikTok’s community guidelines, which prohibit material promoting or depicting suicide or self-harm., Today confirmed.

Television footage from the scene showed multiple police vehicles outside Hilton’s neighbourhood, while paramedics transported a person from the home by ambulance.

Hilton’s family said they would provide further updates when appropriate, while his agent, Dante Rusciolelli of Golden Arts Entertainment, also urged the public to respect the blogger’s privacy.

“At this time, we do not have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition,” the statement said.

Born Mario Lavandeira, Hilton rose to prominence in the early 2000s through his celebrity gossip website, becoming one of the internet’s most recognisable entertainment commentators. In recent years, he has spoken about moving away from the confrontational style that first made him famous and has focused on family life with his three children after relocating from Las Vegas back to Miami earlier this year.
