What should have been a brief trip to a public bathroom turned into dramatic police incident for the father of two young girls after an irate man called the cops on him for choosing to use the women’s not the men’s.
Tyler Brodsky had dropped into a QuikTrip convenience store in Alabama during a road trip from Florida to Oklahoma, when things took a surprising turn that left one of his daughters in tears.
A cranky unnamed older man in a grey shirt man took offence to his choice of bathroom, standing in the open doorway while he called the police.
Brodsky, who remained firm but calm, captured the exchange on video, which he later posted to TikTok where it has been viewed more than four million times and sparked a wave of support.

The older man can be seen loudly exclaiming into his mobile phone: “There is a man with his two little girls using the bathroom. He is washing his hands with his daughters right now.”
But Mr Brodsky has defended his actions saying “The women’s restroom was empty, so I took them in. I’d rather do that than bring two little girls into a men’s bathroom full of grown men and dirty stalls.”
“This guy comes barging in yelling, scares my daughters, and somehow thinks THEY should’ve been in the men’s room instead,” he continued. “Am I wrong here?”
In a follow-up video Mr Brodsky explained three police officers arrived about five minutes after they were called, quickly de-escalating the situation.
“They pointed out that taking two little girls into a men’s restroom could be viewed just as negatively as me being in the restroom with my girls,” Mr Brodsky said.
“So they tried to make sense of it try to understand both perspectives but really ultimately there was nothing that they could do. They did let me know that I was OK, that I didn’t do anything wrong, they were very reassuring.”
“Officers spoke to everyone involved, including Melissa, (the QuikTrip manager) and ultimately asked the man to leave the store.”

Mr Brodsky said he had received thousands of messages from mums, dad’s caregivers and grandparents since uploading the video, overwhelmingly backing him for his actions.
“Your ability to remain calm for your girls is phenomenal,” one person wrote in the comment section of the first video.
“You did nothing wrong. I am a female, I have a daughter and 3 granddaughters. Continue to be the great dad you are,” wrote another.
People also praised the actions of Melissa who closed the door on the angry man and apologised to Mr Brodsky and helped his daughter’s dry their hands.
“Girl dads and boy mums are often put in situations where there isn’t a perfect answer, most parents aren’t trying to make anyone uncomfortable,” Mr Brodsky said.
“We’re simply trying to take care of our children and keep them safe.”
The man who called the cops, a Mississippi independent contractor and licensed realtor, has been let go by a real estate business because their “values don’t align”, TMZ reported.
