Sandover medallist Bailey Rogers, in-form midfielder Jake Florenca and former Fremantle speedster Stefan Giro lead the list of 25 West Australians who have nominated for next week’s mid-season rookie draft.

More than 200 players have put their hand up for the June 1 draft.

Fremantle have one spot on their list open after the retirement of Luke Valente during the pre-season and kept it open despite having several players train with them during the pre-season.

The Dockers have been linked to Peel utility Wade Derksen, who received an exemption last week after not being eligible because he didn’t nominate for last year’s draft.

Rogers also trained with Dockers during the pre-season but was hindered during the summer by an Achilles injury.

Thunder defender Lachlan Cullen also trained with Fremantle before the season, while South Fremantle utility Zac Strom was denied the chance because of the same rules as Derksen.

The 28-year-old was handed an exemption last week as well.

West Coast have two spots on their list after they put young forward Oscar Allen (foot) and Luke Edwards (groin) on the inactive list last week.

Bulldog Florenca is almost certain to join the Eagles next week after impressing as a top-up player in their round eight loss to Brisbane, finishing with 19 disposals, seven tackles and four clearances.

The 25-year-old is coming off a career-best 42 disposal performance against the Thunder on Saturday, getting the better of AFL midfielders Connor Blakely, Mitch Crowden and Darcy Tucker.

East Fremantle ruckman Brynn Teakle is reported to have received interest from several clubs after a solid start to the season.

Giro, Tobe Watson, Angus Schumacher and Luke English lead the list of former AFL players hoping to get a second chance at the big time.
