VideoPitch invaders have halted the AFL Grand Final in the Opening quarter.

Amid an action-packed opening to the grand final, two ground invaders decided to add some more drama to the Gabba atmosphere.

The pair held up play after bursting onto the arena late in the opening term.

One of the clothed invaders reportedly kicked a goal with his own footy before the duo were apprehended by security.

Play had to be stopped as the ball entered Richmond’s attacking 50 where the pair were being hauled away.

The ground invasion capped a frenetic opening to the grand final, with Richmond’s Nick Vlastuin and Geelong’s Gary Ablett both leaving the field with injuries.

Vlastuin was knocked out in a brutal hit from Patrick Dangerfield that is sure to be assessed by the Match Review Officer, with the star Tigers defender failing to return.

Ablett hurt his shoulder in a tackle from Trent Cotchin but returned late in the first term.
