Dustin Martin has made AFL history, becoming the first player to win three Norm Smith medals in three grand finals.

The Richmond superstar turned the 2020 Grand Final on its head, kicking the Tigers’ only goal of the second term before putting on a show in the second half.

He kicked a stunning goal in the third term before sealing the match in the last with his third major.

His goal just 70 seconds from full time will go down as one of the all-time greats in AFL grand finals.

“It’s just surreal,” Martin told Channel 7.

“I can’t believe I’ve won three premierships and that’s (the Norm Smith Medals are) just an added bonus.”

Tipped as the greatest AFL finals player of all time, Martin finished the day with 21 disposals, three tackles, four clearances and four goals.

“He had it (the medal) before the game I reckon,” teammate Shane Edwards told Channel 7.

“He’s just an amazing player to play with. I’m going to look back and cherish every game I’ve played with him.”

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick was full of praise for his superstar.

“He’s an incredible athlete isn’t he?” Hardwick told Channel 7.

“He’ll go down probably now as the best finals player of all time ... the way he just controls a game and knows where to be when to be, is incredibly important.”

Martin was presented the 2020 Norm Smith medal by Port Adelaide and North Melbourne great Byron Pickett.

Martin had 29 possessions and two goals against Adelaide when he won his first Norm Smith in 2017.

He had 22 touches and four goals against Greater Western Sydney in the 2019 decider.
