Three-time premiership defender Nathan Broad won’t be returning home to WA any time soon, putting pen to paper on a new deal at Richmond.

Broad, who just last week became the fastest player to win three flags in the AFL, snubbed interest from the Gold Coast to sign a two-year deal.

The defender has played just 70 games for those three premierships after being taken from Swan Districts by the Tigers with pick 67 in the 2015 AFL Draft.

Joining Broad in inking new deals is Marlion Pickett and Jake Aarts.

Pickett, the AFL’s modern day fairytale with two flags in just 20 games after debuting in the 2019 grand final, jumps from a base wage to a near $1 million two-year deal.

Aarts, the rookie who kicked 14 goals in 14 games this season, has also re-signed on a two-year deal.

“Since coming to the club from the WAFL and VFL respectively each player has worked hard to establish themselves at AFL level and contribute to our recent success,” Richmond’s general manager of football talent Blair Hartley said.

“The premierships have been a fantastic reward for Nathan and Marlion, and Jake is another who had a terrific season and significant impact this year.”

“We are thrilled to have them commit to the Club and look forward to seeing what more they can help us achieve.”
