West Coast will confront their Kardinia Park bogey ground when they face Geelong on Saturday, as they seek to break their road duck for 2021.

Friday night’s 27-point point win over Collingwood at Optus Stadium, 16.7 (103) to 11.10 (76), lifted the Eagles’ record to 3-2 after three home victories, but their top-four and premiership hopes will only be ignited if they can begin to win away.

West Coast have not won at GMHBA Stadium since round 10, 2006, when they mounted a famous comeback from 54 points down to win by three points in Matt Priddis’ debut. The Eagles have since lost six straight games at the venue by an average margin of 10 goals.

Midfielder Tim Kelly will return to the Cattery for the first time since his trade home at the end of the 2019 season, though veteran defender Shannon Hurn is expected to again miss with his calf injury.

Hurn is set to target the round seven western derby for his return, which is a West Coast home game and would provide a massive stage for his 291st and record-breaking game.

Simpson said it would take a four-quarter effort to defeat the Cats, who will host North Melbourne tomorrow and could unveil star recruit Jeremy Cameron against the Eagles.

“Our good was brilliant and our bad was a bit scratchy,” Simpson said.

“I think our best is as good as anyone’s. But at the moment when we dip, we’re as vulnerable as anyone.

“We’re missing a few soldiers, like a lot of clubs, and we’re looking for that consistent four-quarter effort. So we’re still searching for that. Geelong — if you don’t play four quarters, she’s all over.”

Collingwood defender Mark Keane has been offered a one-week suspension for tripping West Coast veteran Josh Kennedy in the second quarter, after it was classified as intentional.

Kennedy appeared inconvenienced by an ankle issue following the incident but played out the game.

Defenders Tom Cole and Josh Rotham are likely to be monitored in coming days for any signs of delayed concussion, after a collision that was labelled “horrifying” by Simpson and “sickening” by midfielder Jack Redden who was nearby.

Simpson said the club didn’t think the pair had sustained concussions. Cole and Rotham had stitches to gashes on their forehead post-match and posted a photo together to social media.

Channel 7 boundary rider Xavier Ellis said he could hear the collision from the opposite wing.

“You could hear the slapping of heads and I’m 100m from it,” Ellis said.

Cole spent almost two minutes lying on the ground and a stretcher was brought out before he walked from the field.
