'Find a solution': Crows great on latest umpiring error

Adelaide great Taylor Walker doesn't want to hear another AFL apology for an umpiring error against his club.

Instead, Walker wants solutions to be found for umpire errors which have plagued his Crows in recent years.

Adelaide again were on the receiving end of a blunder when umpires missed a blatant infringement in the Crows' two-point loss to Fremantle last Friday night.

Umpires missed the Dockers lining up at a centre bounce late in the Adelaide Oval clash with seven players in Adelaide's forward line.

That contravened the so-called 'six-six-six' rule dictating there must be six players from each club stationed in the midfield, and defensive and attacking 50m arcs, at centre bounces.

"I understand that there was a mistake made and that was missed," AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon told reporters on Wednesday.

"It would have been a six-six-six warning."

The concession is the fifth time in less than three years the AFL has admitted a late umpiring mistake against the Crows in close losses.

Adelaide's Walker described the latest mistake as "obvious".

"I don't get sick of mistakes because I reckon everyone in this vicinity has made a mistake in their life," he said at a media call alongside Dillon, SA Premier Peter Malinauskas and Carlton's Harry McKay.

"I just would like to know what we're doing about it.

"Don't continue to make apologies, but tell us what you're going to do about it.

"It's not really about the Adelaide footy club at all ... just gather round and find a solution for it, not be part of the mistake."

Dillon believed umpires "do a great job".

"We have got a four (field) umpire system which has been in place for a few years now," he said.

"What we saw in the first year of the four umpires was eight new umpires come on to our list

"Those umpires now are up to their 30th, 40th, 50th game and I think we're seeing the quality of umpiring, it's going well and I think the four umpire system is working well."
