VideoAFL: Fremantle were able to hold off an impressive Hawthorn outfit to take a vital victory at home.

Nat Fyfe has admitted he downed a “couple frothies” before he headed back out onto Optus Stadium to practice his goal kicking last weekend.

Fyfe struggled in front of goal in the Dockers win over Hawthorn, kicking a woeful 0.6 from his six shots.

Speaking on SEN WA on Friday, Fyfe conceded he wasn’t completely sober when he returned to the field less than an hour after the match finished.

“I tried not to make a story of it, but I went out after the game and had a few shots on goal,” he recounted.

“I’m still there fuming thinking I’ve got to get out with (former Docker, now Freo runner) Tendai (Mzungu) and have some shots on goal.

“I’ve had a couple frothies and then gone out. The funny thing is I’ve kicked 15 straight,” Fyfe said laughing.

SEN guest and Fremantle’s all-time leading goal scorer Matthew Pavlich joked he’s available to assist Fyfe with his goal-kicking woes.

“I’ve got the invoice right here, it says: ‘To Nathan Fyfe, two thousand per hour for some kicking lessons’, no,” he said laughing.

Despite Fyfe’s disappointment, his 0.6 is not the worst performance by a Docker in front of goal.

Current coach Justin Longmuir holds that record, kicking 0.7 back in 2003.

“I’m happy for him to have it,” Fyfe added.
