VideoAFL: Gary Rohan could be in hot water with the judiciary after he was spotted striking Brisbane's Lachie Neale in back play.

Geelong coach Chris Scott claims Brisbane’s Lachie Neale started the remarkable quarter time exchange that saw the Cats mentor pulled away by his senior players on Friday night.

Scott’s actions are set to come under AFL review on Monday after his war of words with opposition players in one of many spiteful moments in the Cats’ one-point win.

Speaking after the match, Scott said it was Neale who started the drama.

“I was walking onto the ground and Lachie said to me something I couldn’t understand exactly, but something about Gary Rohan,” Scott revealed.

“And I said: ‘I’m happy to have that conversation if you like, I’ve seen the vision and I’m comfortable with it’. That’s all that was said.

“They (Lions players) weren’t paying me compliments.”

Scott was pulled away from the exchange by his skipper Joel Selwood after the heated exchange with Neale, Joe Daniher and Harris Andrews, at quarter-time.

Speaking on SEN, Andrews defended his role in the drama.

“I didn’t really hear too much,” he said.

“I was more trying to get the boys into the huddle.

“I didn’t really get involved I guess.”

But Lions great Justin Leppitsch was critical of the moment.

“It wasn't a great look was it, we don't like to see coaches interact with opposition players full stop,” he said on SEN.

“And the second part of it that wasn't a great look that his own players (were pulling him away).”

The moment was sparked by an earlier tussle between Neale and Cat Rohan which could see the Geelong forward sidelined.

Rohan was caught on camera striking Neale, with the match review to now determine if the hit was high.

After getting back on his feet, Neale fired back at the Cats forward by holding up three fingers in a taunt of how many weeks the reigning Brownlow medallist believes Rohan will be suspended for.

“I thought Neale struck Gary on the chest and then Gary struck him on the chest,” Scott said.

“I’m certainly not saying he (Neale) did the wrong thing. I had a pretty good look at what Gary did and I’m comfortable with it.”

Neale experienced one of the quietest games of his illustrious career by being limited to 16 touches, but was influential in the Lions’ last-quarter charge.
