Reigning premiers Richmond will take on Geelong when it is held under lights and away from the MCG for the first time this Saturday night.

Queensland-based AFL lovers are expected to dominate this year’s crowd, although those from all other states and territories except NSW and Victoria can also attend without quarantine.

However, those travelling from interstate have been warned to expect a grilling from police at the border.

Queensland Police Service Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said officers would do everything within their power to ascertain the movements of people prior to their arrival in the sunshine state.

Meanwhile, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has cautioned Melburnians against getting together to watch this weekend’s final.

“You cannot pretend that it’s over because we all desperately want it to be,” he said on Sunday.
