Fremantle Dockers AFLW coach Lisa Webb hails win over Adelaide as insight into what they can do at their best

Fremantle AFLW coach Lisa Webb has hailed her side’s 25-point win over Adelaide as an insight into what they are capable of producing at their best.

The Dockers led by as much as 39 points after kicking seven of the afternoon’s first eight goals on their way to a brilliant 9.6 (60) to 5.5 (35) road victory against the Crows at Unley Oval.

The result has moved Fremantle back into eighth ahead of a challenging final five weeks of the home and away season which will include clashes with the competition’s powerhouse North Melbourne and premiership contenders Geelong and Sydney.

Webb said she was delighted with how her side had bounced back from their loss to Western Bulldogs last week.

“From the get-go, we were playing the footy we knew we were capable of, and I think it’s been building,” Webb said.

“We were disappointed with last week, but I thought we did a lot of really great things today.

“These girls are fierce, they’re determined, but sometimes, we’re just not executing. Today, we shifted that.

“I reckon a lot of belief in this group will come from this . . . I’m really proud of the team.”

Stalwart Kiara Bowers powered the Dockers’ strong showing with a best-afield display, kicking multiple goals for the first time in her 68-game career while gathering a game-high 29 disposals.

Webb hailed the veteran midfielder as a “terrific player” and “an even better person off the field”.

“She’ll get to work again this week, and that’s why she’s been so good for so long,” Webb said.

“We throw different challenges at her at times, because we know what she can do, but she’ll be as thirsty as ever come Tuesday to show up and want to find areas of her game (to improve). We’re very lucky to have her.”

The Dockers’ next challenge will come in a western derby clash with West Coast, who are riding a streak of three consecutive wins, on Sunday.
