Boomers centre Jock Landale is set to play with NBA heavyweights the Phoenix Suns next season, according to multiple reports.

The Athletics' Sham Charania was first to report the Suns have acquired 26-year-old Landale from the Atlanta Hawks.

It comes just days after Landale was sent from San Antonio to the Hawks as part of a trade, following his rookie season with the Spurs in the wake of Australia's Olympic bronze medal campaign.

The Suns had the best regular-season record in the NBA last season before reaching the western conference semi-finals.

They are sure to be among the title favourites again next season if speculation proves correct and they secure Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets to play alongside fellow stars Chris Paul and Devin Booker.

Durant has asked for a trade and reportedly has Phoenix and Miami as his favoured destinations.

The addition of Landale will help fill a vacancy for Phoenix, who lost back-up centre JaVale McGee to the Dallas Mavericks in free agency and are exploring trade offers regarding their starting centre Deandre Ayton.

Landale averaged 4.9 points (49.5 FG per cent and 2.7 rebounds in 10.9 minutes over 54 games of action in San Antonio as a rookie.

The Phoenix move continues his rise since returning from Europe to play a leading role as Melbourne United won the NBL title last year.
