Perth Wildcats have added their first new recruit for the upcoming NBL season, signing former Cairns Taipans forward Alex Higgins-Titsha.

The club announced on Wednesday morning the 25-year-old had penned a three-year deal, which remained subject to NBL approval.

Higgins-Titsha only earned his first NBL opportunity as a development player in the 2024-25 season but immediately emerged as a bright spot for the battling Taipans, with his impressive performances earning him an NBA Summer League opportunity with the Golden State Warriors.

Last season, he averaged 6.3 points and 4.6 rebounds across nine games before his campaign was brought to an early end by a wrist injury.

The 201cm forward has also been a regular for on the international stage for Australia’s 3x3 basketball team, helping his side win the Asia Cup and secure a bronze medal at the Champions Cup last year.

Higgins-Titsha will add depth to the club’s wing stocks after Sunday Dech and Lat Mayen — who were used sparingly in their first season of multi-year contracts with the club — were released from their deals in April.

The core of Perth’s roster from last season, including imports Kristian Doolittle and Dylan Windler, centre Jo Lual-Acuil, captain Jesse Wagstaff and guards Elijah Pepper and Jaron Rillie, are under contract for next season.

The Wildcats have also expressed their interest in recruiting former Australian NBA star Patty Mills, which was confirmed by general manager of basketball Danny Mills on The West Sport Show last month.

Rising stars Ben Henshall and David Okwera have garnered interest from the American college system, but recent changes to eligibility rules made by the National Collegiate Athletic Association could impact their eligibility to be cleared.
