English batsman Tom Banton has pulled out of this summer's Big Bash League, citing wariness from hotel quarantine and bubble fatigue.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Australia (CA) are still discussing the biosecurity rules that will underpin this summer's Ashes.

Joe Root's team have expressed concerns about several aspects of the tour.

BBL clubs have already convinced several English recruits to travel to Australia for the Twenty20 tournament.

Sam Billings, who will take part in next month's T20 World Cup, and James Vince are among the Englishmen to have already signed up for BBL returns.

But Brisbane Heat's Banton, who also opted out of the 2020-21 season because of bubble fatigue, won't be joining his compatriots.

"It was a difficult decision but one that I know was the right one for me given the situation,'' Banton said.

"I'd like to thank the club for their understanding.

"I have very good memories of my time with the Heat and the way I was looked after there. I wish the lads all the best for the coming season and will be cheering them on."
