A half-century from Australian Test star Marnus Labuschagne has helped Glamorgan to their first Blast win of the season, hammering Essex by seven wickets at Sophia Gardens.

Figures of 2-13 from Ruaidhri Smith and Andrew Salter's 2-31 limited Essex to 6-153 from their 20 overs.

It was a total Glamorgan surpassed with ease thanks Brisbane-born opener Nick Selman and 59 from Marnus Labuschagne, who continued his fine start to the Blast with a second half-century in a row.

Spin was Glamorgan's main weapon and part-time bowler Labuschagne did his bit with the wicket of Michael Pepper to return figures of 1-17 from three overs.

Essex's total looked below par and Selman made it even more average when he struck the first ball of Glamorgan's reply through the covers for four, needing just 45 balls to fire a rapid 65.
