* USMAN KHAWAJA HAS SCORED 16 TEST CENTURIES, THESE ARE HIS FIVE BEST:

141 v Pakistan, Dubai, 2018

After struggling to bat in Asia early in his career, Khawaja's subcontinent coming-of-age was a modern classic. After top-scoring with 85 in the first innings, the left-hander batted for almost nine hours to help Australia hang on for a draw in their first Test following the Sandpapergate series. Khawaja described the conditions, more than 40 degrees and 80 per cent humidity, as "relentless".

141 v England, Edgbaston, 2023

Much like the subcontinent, England had never been a productive country for Khawaja. But that all changed when he was player of the match in Australia's stunning win to open the 2023 Ashes. Khawaja scored a surpreme 141 in the first innings to almost draw Australia level, before again top-scoring in the famous run chase. Pat Cummins is deservedly remembered for hitting the winning runs, but Khawaja's hard-fought 65 put Australia within reach of the target.

137 v England, SCG, 2022

The innings that changed everything. At 35 and having not played for Australia in two-and-a-half years, Khawaja spectacularly revived his international career. Selected only because Travis Head had COVID-19, Khawaja made an emotional first-innings century to give Australia a first-innings lead. Attempting to set England a big chase, Khawaja made it two tons for the match with a free-flowing unbeaten 101.

104* v Pakistan, Lahore, 2022

Playing in his birth country for the first time, Khawaja starred as the player of the series. Having already dominated the first two drawn Tests, he top-scored in both innings in the decider. His unbeaten 104 allowed Australia to set Pakistan a tricky fourth-innings chase, with the tourists securing a memorable 1-0 series triumph.

145 v South Africa, Adelaide, 2016

In just the second pink-ball Test, Khawaja thrived in a new-look Australia team coming off a disastrous collapse in Hobart. Forced to open the batting because David Warner had been off the field for too long, Khawaja brilliantly handled an attack featuring Proteas stars Kagsio Rabada and Vernon Philander. His 145 allowed Australia to win and restore some pride.
