Fremantle Dockers star Nat Fyfe is looking strong again after impressive training session in Victoria

Fremantle star Nat Fyfe has completed a thorough test on his injured calf after travelling to Victoria to be with his teammates for Sunday’s game against Collingwood at the MCG. Fyfe hasn’t played since injuring his calf while warming up as the sub during the team’s win over St Kilda on June 29. He is on track to be available to play again next week and looked good while training at Wesley College in Victoria on Saturday. Fyfe wasn’t part of Fremantle’s travelling party when they departed Perth on Friday, flying separately as he focuses on his rehab. The dual Brownlow medallist worked with the club’s fitness staff after his teammates completed their Captain’s Run. He did a series of long runs before doing more explosive work which included change of direction training and jumping. Fyfe appeared comfortable leaping off both legs and looked strong, in a positive sign for the remainder of the season. Fremantle have taken their injured stars on several interstate trips this season to give them the best preparation for imminent returns. Hayden Young travelled to Geelong in round one, Luke Jackson spent the week in Victoria with the team during Gather Round and Young also flew to Sydney on the club’s most recent trip. He will return from a hamstring injury against Collingwood. With Fyfe and Cooper Simpson (AC joint) expected to be available next week and Alex Pearce (leg) likely to play before the end of the month, the Dockers are on track to have all of their key players available for the last month of the season. Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick said the fitness and medical team had done a brilliant job. “Our high performance and medical guys are professionals who are fastidious in making sure they do everything in their power to prepare our players as best they can,” he told thewest.com.au. “You’re only a bit of bad luck away from things changing quickly. But the availability of your most influential players is going to play a critical role in the run home so it’s pleasing to see that. “You’d love to have them all with consistent and sustained football behind them however the high performance programs and the work the medical guys do has them in a really good position.”
