Round 23 teams: Nat Fyfe and Lloyd Meek replace Rory Lobb and Darcy Tucker for Fremantle Dockers

Fremantle have made two changes for Saturday’s ladder shaping clash against Greater Western Sydney with Nat Fyfe and Lloyd Meek coming into the team to replace injured forward Rory Lobb and fringe midfielder Darcy Tucker.

Tucker and last week’s medical sub, Bailey Banfield, travelled as emergencies.

Fyfe hasn’t played since injuring his hamstring against Richmond in round 19. He has played only six AFL games this season due to a series of injuries and will get the chance to build much needed match fitness against the Giants before the finals.

Lobb has been struggling with his right shoulder/chest for several weeks and was subbed out of the western derby late in the match. Meek will be keen to seize his chance given he hasn’t played since round 12.

While there were concerns about versatile big man Griffin Logue after he left training early on Wednesday, he was part of the travelling party.

Veteran Michael Walters had his entire family with him as he prepares for his 200th AFL game.

GWS also made two changes. Tim Taranto and James Peatling both returned after being sidelined with concussion.

They replaced injured pair Lachlan Keeffe and Tanner Bruhn.

The Dockers are sixth on the ladder with 14 wins and one draw but have been scheduled as the second match of the round.

With Brisbane and Melbourne playing each other on Friday night and both having 15 wins, the Dockers will jump ahead of the loser if they beat the Giants.

Fremantle would then have to wait until Sunday to learn whether Collingwood and Sydney maintain their spots above them on the ladder during matches against Carlton and St Kilda respectively.

The Dockers are preparing for their first finals series since 2015 when they finished the home and away season on top of the ladder but lost the preliminary final.

Fremantle will play a home game in the first week of the finals if they miss the top four given they can’t finish lower than sixth.
