Olympic champion Simone Biles made history and defied gravity on Monday, becoming the first woman to land a ‘triple-double’ in competition.

Biles sent social media into a frenzy when she stuck the landing for the triple twisting-double somersault at the US Gymnastics Championships in Missouri.

She reached such heights when completing the move that USA Today concluded she would have easily cleared an SUV.

The 22-year-old went on to win her sixth US women’s gymnastics title, highlighting the gulf that exists between her and the rest of the competition ahead of the 2020 Games.

Biles had earlier become the first gymnast to land a double-twisting, double-somersault dismount from the balance beam.
