There is a Scottish star stealing the show at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow — but he’s not a competing athlete.

CJ Miller, the man affectionately known as Mop Man, is going viral on the internet for his dances with a mop inside The OVO Hydro stadium, where the netball is being staged.

Mop Man has been entering the multi-purpose under the guise of a cleaner before breaking into eccentric dance moves to the tune of music by the likes of Queen.

Some of his work has included the worm and the splits, which has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of people online.

Speaking to Sunrise on Monday morning (AEST), Miller, aka Mop Man, said he felt he might as well go all in with it.

“Well, you know what, I was hired to do a job and I thought, you know what, we’ll do it full send. We’ll send it full,” he said.

Sunrise reporter Katie Brown said “it’s giving Cardi B”.

“That’s my inspiration, actually,” Mop Man said.

“I looked at it and I thought that’s exactly what the Commonwealth needs, Cardi B. That’s the one.

Asked if he thought he’d go viral and suddenly appear on Australian breakfast television, the lovable character said it wasn’t even close to his radar.

“No, I got up, you know, did the normal, got my Starbucks, contemplated life decisions, came into work and then there it was. There it was. And it’s been a wild 12 hours,” he said.

He added he is a “cleaner by day for this week” only.

“Normally, I am a professional dancer,” Mop Man added.
