Western Roar have continued to set the standard for the competition with another convincing victory, while the likes of Southside Demons and West Coast Warriors pulled off stunning wins in hard-fought contests.

The round kicked off with the Southside Demons holding off a determined Curtin Hamersley Comets outfit 59-54.

Although the Demons had a strong start with accurate shots on goal by Ashleigh Neal and Meg Gallager, the Comets managed to fight back late to hold a narrow advantage 14-13 at quarter time.

While the Comets extended their lead early in the second term, the Demons rallied together and took a 27-26 lead into halftime, thanks to a last-gasp goal from Gallager.

Gallager managed a game-high 39 goals while young gun Aitaua Enari managed 32 goals for the Comets.

Meanwhile, Western Roar pulled off another convincing victory over the Rangers to maintain top spot on the ladder.

The Roar managed to assert dominance from the outset, outscoring the Rangers 17-9 by quarter time with solid defence and consistent shots on goal.

Although the Rangers tried their hardest to overcome the Roar’s fast start, they were behind the eight-ball throughout the remainder of the contest thanks to strong defence by the likes of Chelsea Bartlett and Maddie Hunter.

The dynamic trio of Sophia Lamers, Emma Putt and Maddison Schultz continued to be a potent formula for success for the Roar, who went on to take the win 69-37.

Elsewhere, the West Coast Warriors bounced back from their narrow loss to the Roar with a four-goal victory over the East Freo Sharks.

While the Warriors managed to build up an early lead, the Sharks were not ready to give up easily after managing to keep the margin to just four goals at quarter time.

However, the Warriors managed to take control of the match and blow the margin out to six goals at halftime and again to seven goals at the final change.

A late comeback scare from the Sharks was not enough to knock the Warriors off their game, who held firm to take the win 47-43, with Hana Stokes back to her best with 34 goals from 37 attempts.

Meanwhile, the Souwest Jets broke an eight-game losing streak to record their second win of the season, defeating Peel Lightning 60-40 at Eaton Recreation Centre.

The Jets were quick to build up an early lead and ran away with the contest with strong defence by the likes of Brooke O’Connor, Riley Culnane and Shaye Skraha, backed up by impressive shooting efforts by Sophie Eastaugh (22 goals) and Giselle Taylor (31 goals).

The Lightning struggled to keep up with the Jets throughout the contest, with star shooter Abbey Hicks kept to 10 goals.

Meanwhile, in the 20 & Under competition, East Freo Sharks defeated West Coast Warriors 68-37, Curtin Hamersley Comets held off Southside Demons 42-37, Western Roar beat Rangers 59-48, and Peel Lightning defeated Souwest Jets 70-48.

In round nine of the Men’s competition, West Coast Warriors defeated Southside Demons 56-42, and Western Roar pulled off a convincing 60-39 victory over Curtin Hamersley Comets.
