VideoShai Bolton could have just pipped Liam Ryan for the Mark of the Year.

It’s been lauded as one of the great marks of the past decade, but Richmond star Shai Bolton’s hanger against Geelong on Friday night has spectacularly been snubbed for the AFL’s mark of the week.

Bolton produced one of the great marks when he leapt on the back of Cats defender Mark Blicavs in the Tigers’ goal square early in the first quarter of their blockbuster clash last round.

The stunning grab was one of a number during the round, but was seen by many as easily the best of the nine games.

The result comes after a campaign on Twitter by Collingwood, which ultimately saw Mihocek get the win.

“We imagine it'll be pretty hard for Checkers to beat Shai Bolton... Give it your all, Magpie Army,” Collingwood posted on Monday/

Collingwood happily celebrated the win today, tweeting again “Shoutout to the Magpie Army, you’ve done it”.

Bolton is still a chance to win Mark of the Year though, with five more contenders added outside the weekly winners to the final draw.

They are chosen by the AFL media team and added to the list of 23 winners.

Social media exploded this afternoon, with many pundits baffled by the voting.
