Young wave riders sought for sport

Reuben CarderThe West Australian

The Geraldton Board Riders are calling for junior surfers to come along and ride the waves.

The club is running its junior program for micro-groms from under eight up to under-18s over the summer — with the younger age divisions getting a buddy from an older age group in the water. Coach Shaun Glass said the surfers enjoyed clean offshore winds and nice right-handers with reforms at South Pipe and Back Beach in the first round.

She said the under-11 boys had showed progression from last summer, with good turns and long rides from out the back.

New members are welcome any time, and the club especially needs girls in the under-18 and under-11 divisions.
