Art for animals fundraiser
Art for the Animals is the inaugural art fundraising event to support For the Animals’ work to protect wildlife and habitat in one of the last remaining intact forests in Asia, the Southern Cardamon Mountains of Cambodia.
The event will feature works from a growing list of incredible local, national, and international artists including Picasso, Cezanne, Renoir, Juniper, Bromley, Mombassa, Banksy, Blackman, Brendon Darby, Leon Holmes, Leanne Pearson, Alex Proyas, Sioux Tempestt and Jana Vodesil-Baruffi.
Art for the Animals will not be an ordinary art exhibition: it will transport guests away from the everyday and into a wonderland of intrigue and beauty, celebrating the interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the natural environment.
On offer will be exclusive paintings, photographs and sculptures valued from $50-$50,000. Art will also be available for preview or purchase online at fortheanimals.org.au .
This event is timely, since mismanagement of animals and wild habitat have been implicated as causes of zoonotic pandemics, including COVID-19. This event aims to raise not only funding but also awareness of the urgency of caring for our natural environment and animals.
Animals like Chhouk, an elephant who was found as a baby wandering alone in the forest. He was severely ill from an infected foot, the result of a poacher’s snare, and was badly malnourished. With support from For the Animals, Chhouk is now happy and healthy, and with the help of a prosthetic, Chhouk is able to run, swim and enjoy life as a normal elephant.
Rebecca Tilbrook, For the animals Founder says: “We’re so grateful to our supporters for the variety and quality of art they’ve made possible for our event. The proceeds will go a long way in helping people maintain sustainable livelihoods working to protect wildlife and habitat in one of the last intact tropical forests in Southeast Asia.”
