Kuala Lumpur has long been an easy stopover for Australian travellers, but there are increasingly good reasons to make it more than that.
With Malaysia back on our travel radar — and renewed interest in flying with Malaysia Airlines — the city is also about to welcome a new luxury address.
Conrad Kuala Lumpur is now taking reservations ahead of its anticipated opening in late 2026, marking the brand’s first hotel in Malaysia.
The 481-room hotel is in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, within easy reach of some of the city’s best-known sights . . . Bukit Bintang and its seemingly endless collection of shops, restaurants and bars are a five-minute walk away, while the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower are less than a 10-minute drive.
Raja Chulan Monorail Station is also just steps from the hotel, making it relatively easy to venture further afield.
Local art and design touches will feature throughout the property, but I think the various dining options on offer will be one of the biggest drawcards.
There will be six restaurants and bars, including China Blue, billed as the city’s highest Chinese restaurant, where seasonal Chinese dishes will be served with a spectacular view. While Gami Teppan will showcase the dynamic artistry of Japanese teppanyaki.

What’s more, after a day spent exploring the city, guests can choose to unwind at either the Conrad Spa, fitness centre or by the elegant pool deck.
Families haven’t been forgotten either, with the Young Explorers program offering a range of engaging activities for children.
For those keen to get beyond the hotel doors, Conrad’s signature 1/3/5 program will offer curated itineraries lasting one, three or five hours. It’s a clever idea for travellers with limited time in the city, particularly those adding Kuala Lumpur as a stopover on a longer journey.
Reservations are open for stays from February 1, 2027.
