We continue our armchair travel around the world with more of our readers favourite holiday pictures.

Sue Pow shared the fabulous picture above. She writes, “ I really like this picture, taken in July in Mongolia. Several of us from our small tour group were taken to watch the start of a 10 km horse race for young riders and young horses, that was part of a local Nadaam Festival.

While we were waiting for the start, we came across a nomadic family (Grandmother, Mum, Dad and two small children) and were able to interact with them. I like that this image shows the juxtaposition of modern technology of solar panels and a satellite dish together with the ger (tent), the child’s toy and the young man, going about his life in steppes of Mongolia.

It brings back many memories of this amazing holiday, the main highlight of which was attending the festival. It was not a tourist spectacle; we were so privileged to enjoy the day, mingling with the locals all dressed up in their finery, and witnessing many happy reunions of old friends. It remains one of the best days of my life.” Well done Sue, we like it too. Thanks for sharing.

Megan O’Connor discovered one of WA’s treasures during a recent visit to the south west.

“Having lived in WA all our lives but never having had the time to do much travel in the south west, our four day break at New Year visiting a few of the highlights around the Walpole area was very enjoyable. After a helpful stop at the visitors centre, coffee and cake and a walk on the jetty was just the ticket. Next stop the giant tingles and treetop walk.”

Nick Bruechle sent us a couple of lovely pictures from Germany. I particularly like this one and agree with his discription.

Nick writes. “I love this shot, taken from our hotel room after lunch on Christmas day 2019 in Landshut, Bavaria. We’d been entertained by a local couple and our hosts from Munich, with a full turkey dinner and much laughter and conversation. As the sun set in the afternoon, the light took on a dramatic golden quality, and the people crossing the inlet to the diversion make the entire scene seem something like a Bruegel painting to me. It was an unforgettable day.”

Trevor Ward also sent us a couple of nice pictures. He writes, “I have two favourites, one from Uluru with a very rare micro-climate cloud sitting on top.”

“The other is of the Nyhavn canal in Copenhagen, Denmark. The photo was taken going over a bridge in a bus, yet the result is sharp and clear. Many thanks for the opportunity to share fav photos.” The pleasure is ours Trevor and since they are both so nice and because one is from Denmark (my home country), I’ll allow both to be included here.

Barry Dey sent us a picture of spectacular sunrise on the Mekong river in Cambodia with these words.

“The picture says it all about a beautiful country and it's people, we had been in Vietnam for a couple of weeks, Ha long bay, Hanoi and beautiful Hoi an, but nothing could be better than 7 days and nights on the Mekong river to Cambodia, both countries have a great feel and very friendly, great food and well priced, will be back there next year.”

Kalbarri.

Andy Vernie’s picture from Kalbarri, I think it sums up WA to a tee.

“The photo is of my wife as she looks at the view of the river and surrounding landscape from Nature’s Window on a recent trip to Kalbarri. It was a glorious day, with such blue skies and beautiful cloud formation that this scene will forever be etched in my memory. The weather was warm that day and the scenery just breathtaking. We are extremely fortunate to have such natural beauty to discover in Western Australia.”

And last but not least, David Broughton shared this quirky pic with the caption - Natures own Flower Pot, on the Bibbulmun Track, Peacful Bay. Well spotted David - or should it be well potted?
