Perez Hilton’s team has issued an update on his injuries after the celebrity blogger self-harmed with a knife during a confronting livestream.
In a statement published on his website, Perez Hilton, his team said the 48-year-old remains in a “serious but stable” condition in hospital after suffering “significant blood loss” and “additional injuries”.
The update states Perez will “require surgery in the coming days” to treat the injuries he sustained in the horrific incident.
“His treatment and recovery will be a long process,” the statement read.
His team also explained the father-of-three remained in hospital under a State Act that allows for involuntary hospitalisations.
“We want to confirm that Perez remains hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act. His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers, and others directly involved in his care,” his team said.
“He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements.”
Perez’s team added that his children are in safe hands in the care of his “immediate family.”
“Please allow them and the rest of the family the peace and privacy they desperately need during this incredibly difficult time,” the update continued.
The update comes after Perez’s family issued a statement confirming he was receiving treatment, saying they were grateful to his supporters for their “overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers”.
“Our focus right now is on his well-being,” the statement added.
“We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”
TikTok confirmed the livestream was removed after its moderation systems flagged the content within minutes.
A spokesperson said the platform’s US moderation team reviewed the stream and alerted law enforcement, adding that the content violated TikTok’s community guidelines, which prohibit material promoting or depicting suicide or self-harm., Today confirmed.
Television footage from the scene showed multiple police vehicles outside Hilton’s neighbourhood, while paramedics transported a person from the home by ambulance.
