Some of WA’s biggest names in the arts gathered in Fremantle to celebrate the launch of a new program set to take exhibitions from the Pilbara to the South West and beyond.

Art on the Move launched its upcoming touring exhibition program at the Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre on September 9, bringing together artists, arts industry figures and government representatives.

The sunny Fremantle morning marked the beginning of a new round of exhibitions that will travel across regional Western Australia from next week, giving communities outside Perth greater access to the visual arts.

Among those attending the launch were Arts Minister Simone McGurk, Art on the Move board members and contributing artists.

For almost 40 years, Art on the Move has worked to support and strengthen WA’s visual arts sector by partnering with artists, curators and galleries to take exhibitions to regional communities.

The organisation’s program is developed in response to local conversations and is delivered in partnership with the State Government, with a focus on broadening access to the arts and encouraging cultural engagement across the State.

The upcoming exhibitions will travel from next week — from the Pilbara through to the South West and other regional areas, bringing work by WA artists to audiences across the State.
