Police charge 44-year-old St James man with violent Spencer Park home burglary and assault of resident

Albany police have arrested and charged a Perth man with a violent home burglary in Spencer Park on Monday morning. Police say a 44-year-old St James man gained entry to a home on Wansbrough Street in Spencer Park just after 6.30am on Monday, ramming and smashing a sliding glass door. Police say the man then punched the 64-year-old resident, who was home with his wife at the time, in the face when he tried to confront the unwelcome intruder. It’s claimed he then fled the premises before police found and arrested him nearby a short time later. The man has been charged with aggravated home burglary and commit, aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm, criminal damage and destruction of property, unlawful damage, and being armed in a way that may cause fear. He made his first appearance before the Albany Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.
