Western Power outage affects more than 14,000 customers in Albany and Denmark but restored within an hour

A Western Power outage on Sunday night affected large swathes of Albany, Denmark and surrounding areas.
In a customer alert issued at 10.39pm on Sunday, Western Power reported 14,833 customers were affected and that power would be restored by 2.30am Monday.
A Western Power spokesperson said power was restored about 11.40pm on Sunday.
The spokesperson said the company was investigating the reason for the power outage but suspected it was a fault in a transformer and could have been weather related.
“Crews worked to restore power, which was completed by 11.40pm,” the spokesperson said.
Affected areas named by Western Power included Gledhow, Torndirrup, Port Albany, Lowlands, Vancouver Peninsula, Mt Clarence, Mt Melville, Middleton Beach, Mira Mar, Little Grove, Sandpatch, Spencer Park, Frenchman Bay, Albany, Marbelup, Shadforth, Bornholm, Mckail, Scotsdale, Orana, Big Grove, Youngs Siding, Yakamia, Robinson, Seppings, Milpara, Lockyer, Kronkup, Elleker, Nullaki, Denmark, Cuthbert, Goode Beach, Mt Elphinstone, Ocean Beach, Centennial Park and Torbay.
