Spirited radio DJ spins different record

“I’ve had an absolute blast doing this and have no regrets.”

That is the verdict of Port Hedland man David Eckhart, who has almost certainly set a record after a marathon return flight to London from Port Hedland for a quick eight-hour look at one of the great tourist meccas.

Eckhart, who hosts Spirit Radio’s Brekky with Ecky, set out last Friday, flying from Port Hedland to Perth and connecting with the new Qantas Boeing 787 non-stop to London.

While his colleagues at Spirit Radio think he is mad, Eckhart likes setting records — even crazy ones.

“It’s the new Dreamliner, and I didn’t have to take any leave,” he said.

His last leg was the flight back to Port Hedland, which arrived at 6.20pm on Sunday.

That is an elapsed time of 3160 minutes.
