With finals looming, the Waringarri Crows and Port Wyndham Crocs stamped their authority with convincing wins in the last round of the East Kimberley Football League.

At Kununurra Oval on Friday night, the Crows’ forward line took off early in the first term kicking three goals while their defence kept the Kununurra Demons at bay, letting only one goal through, 3.2 (20) to 1.0 (6).

The Crows kept up the pace in the second term kicking a further four goals while the Demons stagnated, failing to score another goal to trail by 38 points at half-time.

But the Demons came out firing in the second half, outscoring the Crows with three goals to keep them in the game and scores were 8.9 to 4.3 at the last change.

The Demons went on to score another four goals in the final term but the Crows kicked another two to keep them well in the lead and take home the win, 10.13 (73) to 8.3 (51).

The Crows’ Diquane Juli had an impressive performance as the top scorer of the match kicking five goals, while Peter Curtin and Leno Thomas led the scoring for the Demons with three goals each.

The Port Wyndham Crocs proved why they are on top of the ladder at Clarrie Cassidy Oval on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Ord River Magpies by 29 points, 11.11 (77) to 6.12 (48).

The Crocs’ Caleb Calwyn led the scoring with five goals while the Magpies’ Jett Forbes led his team with two goals.

The Crocs will go on to face Ord River Magpies in the qualifying final on Saturday August 17, at Clarrie Cassidy Oval at 5pm while the Waringarri Crows will take on the Kununurra Demons in the elimination final on Friday, August 16, at Kununurra Oval at 6pm.
