It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Bunbury as the streets are illuminated with festive joy for another year.

Take a stroll through the CBD to find selfie spots and decorations as part of the inaugural Christmas Trail, with maps available to tick off all the stops.

The new trail officially opens today, along with the lighting of the giant Christmas tree at Bicentennial Square. Bunbury’s annual Christmas in the City event will be spread across two weekends in an effort to adapt to COVID-19.

The RAC Street Parade will fill the CBD streets from 5.30pm on Sunday, December 6, kicking off at Blair Street before winding through the city streets and on the following Sunday, the Christmas festival and the Apprentice and Traineeship Company Carols Concert will take over the town.

Residents will be able to enjoy market stalls, buskers, face painting, Christmas workshops and more.

Food trucks will be available from 12pm until the end of the carols, which runs from 4.30pm to 6pm at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell.

Mayor Gary Brennan said he was pleased Bunbury could host a Christmas event.

It will be a fantastic opportunity for our community to celebrate the festive season after what has been a challenging year for most, and I am confident the format of the event will provide the safest environment to do just that.

“I encourage everyone to get along and participate, celebrate with their loves ones, stay safe and enjoy the wonderful activities and locations across Bunbury.”
