Coronavirus crisis: ‘Karen from Bunnings’ takes on Australia Post worker

VideoA woman refusing to wear a face mask appears to have recorded herself berating an Australia Post worker.

The so-called 'Karen from Bunnings' who sparked online ire during the weekend appears to be at it again, this time at a post office.

A video of the woman challenging Bunnings workers who asked her to wear a mask to enter a store in Melbourne went viral on Sunday.

Masks are currently mandatory in Melbourne as Victoria battles the country’s deadliest coronavirus outbreak.

Now a new video has emerged which appears to show the woman pulling a similar stunt at an Australia Post outlet.

VideoAnother confrontation between retail staff and customers refusing to wear masks has been caught on camera.

The video begins in the same style as the Bunnings confrontation, with the woman holding the camera and telling the staff member she does not need to wear a mask.

“I do not need a mask. If you could stamp that, it would be wonderful,” she can be heard saying.

The Australia Post worker stays silent as she continues to speak.

“I suggest you update yourself on what the Department of Human Services have put on with regards to masks and who needs to wear them,” she says.

“And who also has the authorisation to actually ask for that evidence, because it’s not you. Thank you.”

VideoBarnaby Joyce and Joel Fitzgibbon take aim at a woman who refused to wear a mask at Bunnings.

The camera does not show the woman’s face in either the Bunnings or the Australia Post videos, but the voices are extremely similar.

An Australia Post spokesperson said aggressive behaviour towards staff was completely unacceptable.

“We do not tolerate this behaviour anywhere in our business,” the spokesperson said.

“The safety of our staff is critical, and if staff feel unsafe by aggressive customers, they have been instructed to call the police.”

The coronavirus crisis gripping Victoria has worsened overnight with the State registering a record 532 new cases and six deaths.

It is the biggest case spike in the nation since the pandemic began.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said he had little sympathy for people refusing to wear masks.
