Police investigating serious assault on Hay Street in Perth, man given first aid and rushed to hospital

A man is fighting for his life nearly 12 hours after he was brutally assaulted in the Perth CBD. Police and St John WA were called to the scene on Hay Street near Victoria Avenue about 11.30pm on Friday. They commenced first aid on a 62-year-old man with critical injuries. He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital. Just after 10am on Saturday a RPH spokesperson said the man remained in a critical condition. Homicide squad detectives are investigating the incident, with a 37-year-old man assisting with inquiries.
