RAC Rescue helicopter dispatched to Stirling Range, preparing to rescue hiker who became unwell on ridge walk

The RAC Rescue helicopter has been sent to help a hiker in distress in the Stirling Range National Park.
Emergency services were alerted after a man reported he was feeling unwell while attempting to hike the Stirling Range ridge walk in the Great Southern.
A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said a man in the Stirling Ranges contacted emergency services on Tuesday night after he became unwell.
The hiker later advised that he was feeling well enough to spend the night on the mountain and continue his trek on Wednesday morning.
However, about noon on Wednesday, he made another call to emergency services, saying he was not able to complete the trek.
DFES said a local park ranger was heading out on foot to meet the man and assess his condition.
Gnowangerup State Emergency Services crews and St John WA have been on scene since 1pm.
A St John WA spokesperson said the hiker was believed to be in his 40s and his condition was not life-threatening.
