A bushfire advice has been issued for the Great Northern Highway near Indee Station.

Caused by lightning strikes, the Town of Port Hedland is managing the fire as it burns on the eastern side of the highway.

Roads have not been closed, however motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible and reduce their speeds.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services have asked drivers to turn headlights on and watch for emergency personnel.

There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area.
