Businesses join RecyclingLaunch cause

Hedland residents pitched in and did their bit for the environment at Care For Hedland’s Recycling Launch earlier this month.

Following a successful WA Beach Clean Up morning, the environmental association relaunched its recycling initiative, with local companies joining the team at Cemetery Beach and bringing their wealth of knowledge.

Toxfree and PTES joined the Care For Hedland volunteers and environmentally savvy residents to answer questions about how to recycle in Port and South Hedland.

Not to be left out of the fun, children got to climb into one of Toxfree’s new vacuum tucks and test the buttons.

Association co-ordinator Jo Smith said it was a fantastic morning and a great way to tell Hedland residents about the ease of recycling in town.

“I encourage everyone to get on board and recycle as much household material as possible,” she said.

“Not only are you diverting material from landfill, but also giving material new life.”

Care For Hedland will continue to organise monthly Recycle Day collection on the second Saturday of every month. For more information visit careforhedland.org.au or call Ms Smith on 0488 907 260.
