Fundraising crowd has a rocking time

Hundreds of party-goers donned their best air guitars, lingerie and and rock-star costumes for the annual Pimps and Pros party in Hedland last Saturday night.

For almost two decades, Pimps and Pros has been one of the biggest events on Hedland’s social calendar and the main fundraiser for the Port Hedland Waterpolo Association.

With plenty of flesh on show, the pop and rock stars theme saw blow- up guitars and mullets join five Britney Spears costumes, an Angus Young lookalike and a scantily clad KISS tribute group.

PHWA committee members transformed the Pier Hotel into a Pimps and Pros dream with posters galore, a photo booth and Behind Closed Doors Productions on hand to ensure attendees continued the fun at an after-party.

The best-dressed female prize was awarded to Caity Rose Paul for her doughnut-clad Katy Perry costume and the best-dressed male award went to “Ali G”, otherwise known as Ben Mullen.

MC David Eckhart gave special mention to Carly Leue’s Christina Aguilera get-up and Steve Smirke’s Freddie Mercury costume.

A lucky door-prize winner scored two nights accommodation at Mangrove Resort in Broome, while best-dressed winners received vouchers from Smirkey’s Sport and Health and Beauty Shed.
