The Shire of East Pilbara has stepped into a new era of leadership as the council welcomes new chief executive Jeremy Edwards.

Joining the Shire after six years as the Shire of Gingin’s chief executive, Mr Edwards said he was excited to start his new adventure in the Pilbara.

“I’m excited to bring a new voice to the Shire of East Pilbara and help work on the diversification of the region and create the best shire for the people of the East Pilbara,” he said.

“I’m also looking forward to being able to live in such a beautiful part of the world and explore everything the Pilbara has to offer with my wife.”

With 30 years experience working in local govern-ment including at the City of Bayswater, the City of Swan and the City of Joondalup, Shire president Lynne Craigie said Mr Edwards was the ideal person to take up the leadership of the Shire.

“Jeremy Edwards brings with him fresh ideas and visions that will be of real benefit to the Shire and the people who live, work and visit here,” she said.

“On behalf of the council and staff, we welcome Jeremy and are enthusiastic to work together with him as he leads and guides us through our next phase at the Shire of East Pilbara.”

Mr Edwards is the first new chief executive at the Shire for 20 years, replacing Allen Cooper, who resigned last year.
