NSW Police have revealed there was an alleged stabbing attack on a woman in Bondi Beach just one day before the Westfield mass murder horror.

The police said on Sunday they had arrested and charged a 43-year-old-man with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following the alleged attack on Roscoe Street in Bondi Beach on Friday.

The attack, which took place just before 11am, put a 36-year-old woman in hospital.

Paramedics treated the woman for head injuries and took her to hospital in a stable condition.

“A crime scene was established and officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the police said.

“Following inquiries, a 43-year-old man was arrested at Riverwood about 1.20pm the same day.

“He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged.”

The alleged knife violence came just one day before Queensland man Joel Cauchi, 40, rampaged through the Westfied shopping centre in Bondi, murdering six people. He was fatally shot by police.

NCA NewsWire does not suggest the two incidents are related.
