Shoppers received a wild shock Monday afternoon when the ceiling inside a shoe shop gave way and water from heaving rain began profusely spewing onto the floor.

Rain above Rockingham Centre, about 50km south of Perth, proved too much for the Jim Kidd store’s roof, which began spurting out water at about 3.15pm.

A shopper filmed as multiple leaks across the ceiling saw water pouring onto the floor, creating puddles throughout the store.

The shop hadn’t been closed yet, with people seemingly still going in and out despite the dangerous deluge.

Rockingham Centre and Jim Kidd have been contacted from comment.

Rockingham received approximately 15mm of rain on Monday while a strong wind warning was in place for Perth local waters.

A cold front crossed Perth and Melville waters Monday afternoon, with a ridge developing in the wake of the front and lying just to the north onwards from later Tuesday.

More rain is expected overnight across the Greater Perth region before conditions clear on Tuesday.

Another front is expected on Thursday.
