Burrows a top performer for Lake View amid tough season

George Burrows was a solid performer in an otherwise challenging A-grade season for Lake View in the Eastern Goldfields Cricket Association.

The Viewers headed into the 2023-24 campaign chasing back-to-back flags, but missed the finals with two wins.

Burrows held up his end of the deal by scoring 298 runs at 22.92 — fifth-best in the competition.

Next best was David Forrest’s 191 runs at 15.92, and Shane Wood was the pick of the bowling attack with 16 wickets at 13.94.

Burrows was named A-grade champion player at the club’s awards presentation last weekend.

Tim Healey took the B-grade honour, and Mark Williams and Jackson Brown were tied for the players’ player award, as voted by their teammates.

Elijah Young was named young player of the year and J. P. Durkin was honoured as club person of the year for his work at the helm of the 90th anniversary committee.
