New decor has been added to Port Hedland’s St John Ambulance depot after Ashburton Aboriginal Centre donated handmade tables and benches to the organisation.

The unique outdoor setting was handcrafted by the team at the Aboriginal centre through a program which helps unemployed Aboriginal people learn life and work skills through carpentry and metal work.

Hedland station manager Phil Stanaitis said the volunteers, paramedics and St John Ambulance Western Australia were very thankful for the kind gesture.

Ashburton Aboriginal Centre senior supervisor Andrew Walker said it was rewarding for the people in the centre to see their creations appreciated.
