Sports carnival returns to allow locals to ‘try before they buy’

A sports carnival allowing locals to “try before they buy” will return to Kalgoorlie-Boulder this month. The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has announced the return of its popular Summer Sports Carnival, which will take place on September 21 at the Oasis Playing Fields. The free event offers sports enthusiasts or newbies of all ages the chance to experience a wide variety of sports on offer in the city including football, tee ball, golf, triathlon, BMX, kickboxing and more. Participants will have the chance to meet coaches, learn about upcoming seasons from local clubs and watch demonstrations. Mayor Glenn Wilson said friendly competitions would also be on offer for people wanting to test their skills on the day. “Our city has a strong passion for sports, and we’re excited to host an event that brings together our community and local clubs to highlight the sporting opportunities available in Kalgoorlie-Boulder,” he said. “Our local club volunteers dedicate an incredible amount of effort each year to deliver a fantastic sports season, and this event has traditionally served as a good opportunity to attract new players, members and volunteers to support their ongoing success. “No matter your age or experience, the Summer Sports Carnival offers something for everyone to enjoy. I encourage everyone to bring their friends and family to join in the fun and discover something new.” The carnival will be from 9am to noon.
