Perth traffic: Albany Highway lane closed as crash causes peak hour congestion in Perth’s east

A truck breakdown on Canning Highway near the under-construction Fremantle Traffic Bridge caused major delays as commuters travelled home for the day.
The breakdown blocked the left lane of Canning Highway eastbound after Queen Victoria Street, and was reported at 3.41pm.
Traffic management direction was implemented at the scene, with traffic heavy on approach.
Main Roads has advised commuters to exercise extreme caution if driving in the area.
The truck was cleared as of 4.47pm, but traffic remains slow at the site.
It’s the second reported incident on Perth’s roads this afternoon, after vehicles crashed on Albany Highway just as peak hour began.
The crash, reported by Main Roads at 2.45pm on Thursday afternoon, closed the left lane of Albany Highway southbound just before Liege Street in Cannington.

The lane closure is causing congestion and traffic is slow leading up to the crash site.
Main Roads has reminded drivers to exercise extreme caution and allow for a safe merge when approaching the area.
The crash has since been cleared, but traffic remains slow on approach.
