WA daredevil swims with sharks ‘for fun’ off Ningaloo
A WA daredevil has been filmed the moment he jumped into the ocean with four sharks for “fun”.
Spear fisherman Rob says he and his friends were out on the water in WA’s north when they spotted the four silky sharks, described as being between two and four metres in length, on Saturday.
As his friends fed the sharks burley, the 23-year-old decided to jump in.
“I didn’t have to get in, but I did it because it’s just fun,” he told 7 News.
“(The sharks) were swimming under us and you just can run your hands over their whole body as they go past.”
It’s not the first time the Ningaloo local has been close to sharks – he says he’s been swimming with them since the age of five.
“It is like anything, if you’re being mean to it, they’ll be mean back to you,” he said.
“So take it easy and you’ll be alright.”
The Department of Fisheries has advised watergoers not to touch, feed or swim with sharks.
