We’re almost at the halfway point of the trade period - and there are plenty of prospective deals that need to be done.

Some of the biggest names who could potentially shift clubs remain in limbo, with Christian Petracca, Zach Merrett, Clayton Oliver, Charlie Curnow, Rowan Marshall all waiting to have their fate determined.

And from a WA point of view - the Eagles may be looking to get a trade done for Richmond’s Tylar Young, as well as considering their options for wantaway Campbell Chesser.

Port categorically shut down Butters' rumours

Melbourne add more to their coaching panel

The Demons have been busy revamping their coaching staff following the appointment of head coach Steven King.

They’ve announced Matthew Scarlett, Jared Rivers and Rory Atkins have all joined his panel earlier today.

Scarlett will be a part-time specialist coach, Rivers will be a backline assistant and Atkins will be a development coach.

“It’s really exciting to welcome Jared back to the club in an assistant coaching capacity,” Melbourne general manager of AFL football performance Alan Richardson said.

“He has an incredibly strong understanding of the game and significant experience, having held coaching positions at the Pies, in the VAFA and with the Saints.

Thomas speaks ahead of game 50

Away from the trade space West Coast AFLW co-captain Charlotte Thomas spoke during the week ahead of he 50th straight game having not missed a match since being drafted.

The Eagles travel to Adelaide knowing a win will go a long way to securing finals.

Chesser speaks on his trade

He joined Trade Radio this afternoon.

“I got a call two hours ago and then went to the club to do some media stuff,” he said.

“We’re confident it was going to get done and appreciate the Eagles getting it done quickly.

“It’s a two-year deal, which is a great opportunity to get settled back in Melbourne.

“I have great confidence in my body and I’m looking forward to having my first full crack in a pre-season.

“I think the young group of boys over at West Coast are keen to get better and the enviroment over there was great.”

Swans set to make Curnow play

Following Geelong’s offer late yesterday, Sydney are reportedly pulling together their own audacious bid for the Blues star forward.

The Swans were long seen as the likely other option beside Geelong and will package players and picks as part of the bid.

Carlton remained adamant this morning that they want to keep Curnow.

Ainsworth, Durdin, three club trade has been approved

Carlton trade in Ben Ainsworth and 2025 Round 4 pick 67. Carlton trade out Corey Durdin and a 2026 Round Two selection (tied to Carlton).
