That’s where we’ll leave things after a famous Fremantle victory over Adelaide.
The Dockers surrendered a big lead to the Crows, but Josh Treacy’s dribbler gave them a lead they were able to hang on to until the final siren, in large part thanks to a desperate smother from Josh Treacy.

Analysis from famous win
Fremantle emerged with the profits from a game of football economics, writes Glen Quartermain.
Not Geelong all over again
Fremantle’s fans’ minds went back to a season-opening loss to Geelong as the Crows launched their late comeback - and Justin Longmuir’s did too, with the Dockers coach saying he referenced the game in his three-quarter-time address.
“In that Geelong came, I thought we came out in that fourth quarter and showed no dare, we didn’t play to win, we didn’t take the game on,” he told Fox Footy.
“I referenced that. It didn’t quite work at the start.”
Flowers for Pearce
Justin Longmuir says Alex Pearce deserves plenty of praise - but not just for his amazing late smother.
“He was super all night,” Longmuir told Fox Footy.
“He’s just such a competitor. He’s worked his way back from injury, he’s just had a bit of a slow start to the season, minutes-wise.”
JL’s verdict
A hugely relieved Justin Longmuir says he has got “a little bit greyer” after the thrilling finish.
“Super proud of the effort away from home. To lose the lead like we did, we did that in Geelong, and we didn’t show the compusure to fight back,” he told Fox Footy
“We had a bit more composure tonight, we kept tried to keep playing our way.”
The three-quarter-time message
Caleb Serong says Justin Longmuir’s three-quarter-time message was centred on staying calm.
“I think in these moments in the past, we really get a little bit rushed and we need to do it all in the moment,” he told Fox Footy.
“The way the AFL’s going, there’s so much momentum swings, and you just need to be able to make the most of your time and not let the opposition capitalise on theirs.
“We weren’t too worried about how the game was looking, we just knew we needed to get back on top in the contest.”
Serong’s say
Caleb Serong has spoken on Alex Pearce’s “incredible” game-saving smother.
“To put his body on the line, crisp smother as well - he sent it back 10 metres - incredible,” Serong told Fox Footy.

Pearce on another famous Adelaide win
After a remarkable goal to beat Port Adelaide last year, Fremantle captain Alex Pearce has produced another remarkable moment at Adelaide Oval with a desperate smother.
“In that last quarter, they had all the momentum. We spoke about trying to stand up and be calm,” Pearce told Fox Footy.
“I’m so proud of the guys, the way they handled themselves out there, the way we were still able to play our way and not bomb it away. It was fantastic.
“A few times there, I thought we were done. They’re a good side, Adelaide. To be able to come back like they did, ride their crowd, they just kept on coming and made it so hard for us.”
